Aprilia has expanded its premium scooter portfolio in India with the launch of the new SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175. The maxi-scooter range arrives with updated engines, larger wheels and different equipment levels across the two variants. Prices begin at ₹1.11 lakh for the 125cc model and reach ₹1.31 lakh for the 175cc version, with both figures representing ex-showroom prices in Delhi.
The launch brings the SXR name back into focus after the earlier SXR 125 and SXR 160 models were discontinued. Instead of introducing an entirely new platform, Aprilia has adapted the SXR design around the updated powertrains already used by its SR scooter range. The new models retain the distinctive maxi-scooter appearance while adding changes intended to improve everyday usability and stability.
Aprilia SXR GT 125 and 175: Price and Engine Details
The entry-level Aprilia SXR GT 125 hp-e is priced at ₹1.11 lakh, while the SXR GT 175 hp-e costs ₹1.31 lakh. The two scooters use different engine capacities, giving buyers a choice between a more accessible option and a higher-performance alternative.
The SXR GT 125 is powered by a 124.5cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 10.6 hp at 7,400 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque at 6,200 rpm. The larger SXR GT 175 uses a 174.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It delivers 13.3 hp at 7,200 rpm and 14.1 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
Both engines comply with BS6 OBD-II Stage B emission standards and support E20 petrol. The specifications indicate that the 175cc variant is positioned for riders seeking stronger performance, while the 125cc version focuses on a lower starting price.
Larger Wheels and Familiar Maxi-Scooter Styling
One of the important changes in the new SXR GT range is the adoption of 14-inch wheels. The previous SXR models used smaller 12-inch wheels. The larger setup is expected to offer improved stability and a more planted feel, particularly on uneven urban roads.
In terms of design, the scooters continue with the large front apron, broad seat and stretched proportions associated with the SXR family. Aprilia has retained its signature tripod-style LED headlamp design, while updated graphics and new colour options give the range a refreshed appearance.
The SXR GT 125 is available in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro and Glossy White. The 175cc version gets Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Matte Green options.
Features and Safety Equipment
The equipment list differs between the two variants. The SXR GT 175 receives a 5-inch TFT instrument display with Bluetooth connectivity. It supports functions such as call and music management, along with turn-by-turn navigation. Additional handlebar-mounted controls are also part of its equipment package.
The SXR GT 125 gets a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster and a combined braking system (CBS). The 175cc model, meanwhile, is equipped with single-channel ABS. This difference is worth considering for buyers comparing the two versions, alongside the engine and price gap.
What Buyers Should Know
The Aprilia SXR GT range combines familiar maxi-scooter styling with updated mechanical components and larger wheels. The 125cc model offers a lower entry price, while the 175cc variant adds more power, a TFT display, connectivity features and ABS.
With prices starting at ₹1.11 lakh, the new scooters target buyers looking for a premium, touring-inspired scooter for regular city use. The final choice will depend on whether buyers prioritise affordability or prefer the additional performance and equipment offered by the larger variant.
