Mirabai Chanu Claims Historic Asian Games Silver
Mirabai Chanu secured the silver medal in the women’s 49kg weightlifting event, adding an Asian Games medal to her decorated international career.
The Indian weightlifter finished behind North Korea’s Ri Song-gum, while Thailand’s Suthasini Khaosingkhon took the bronze medal. The result is particularly significant as Chanu had previously won medals at the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games but had not yet stood on the Asian Games podium.
Her performance provided India with another medal in a discipline where the country has traditionally maintained a strong presence.

Bhaker had qualified for the medal round after progressing through the qualification stage. She remained competitive during the final before ending her campaign outside the medal positions.
For the Indian shooting contingent, however, the day still produced positive results through team events, adding further medals to the country's overall tally.

The results added to India's strong showing in shooting at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Soft Tennis Produces Another Milestone
India also achieved a significant result in soft tennis, with Jay Meena reaching the men's singles semifinals and securing a medal in the process.
The achievement marked an important moment for Indian soft tennis at the Asian Games and added another sport to the country's medal list.
Badminton Team Remains in Medal Contention
India’s men’s badminton team also continued its campaign with a place in the semifinal stage. The team advanced after defeating Japan in the quarterfinal and secured a medal spot.
The squad features prominent players including Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Ayush Shetty, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. India’s next challenge comes in the semifinal as the team looks to progress to the gold-medal match.
