CJP Leader Abhijeet Dipke Announces ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ Protest on October 10

CJP Leader Abhijeet Dipke Announces ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’ Protest on October 10

New Delhi, October 3, 2026: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has announced a fresh protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Dipke said the demonstration would take place if Kumar does not step down, following a large gathering organised by the party at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on October 2.

Calling the proposed agitation “Jantar Mantar 2.0”, Dipke urged people from across the country to join the movement. In a post on social media, he said the protest would remain peaceful and that participants would follow the path of non-violent resistance associated with Mahatma Gandhi.

Dipke also said that if Delhi Police attempted to prevent the gathering at Jantar Mantar, protesters would continue their demonstration at another location where they were stopped.

CJP Renews Demand for CEC’s Resignation

The announcement follows the CJP’s protest in Mumbai, where party leaders raised concerns over the Election Commission’s handling of electoral rolls and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

Dipke and other CJP representatives have accused the poll body of allowing irregularities in voter-list revisions. They have demanded Kumar’s resignation and called for accountability over the alleged deletion of voters. These claims are allegations made by the party and have not been established as findings of wrongdoing by the Election Commission.

During the Mumbai demonstration, CJP leaders also called for criminal proceedings against the Chief Election Commissioner. They raised objections to the existing process for appointing Election Commissioners and demanded greater transparency, including participation from civil society.

Mumbai Protest Precedes Delhi Agitation

The October 2 gathering at Shivaji Park was part of the party’s wider campaign against the Election Commission. Despite reported restrictions on the event, a large number of supporters, including young people and activists, attended the demonstration.

Dipke used the gathering to announce the next stage of the campaign, warning that the movement would shift to the national capital if the CEC did not resign. The planned October 10 protest is intended to bring supporters from different parts of India to Delhi.

The CJP has also raised the demand that the 2025 voter list be frozen and that future appointments to the Election Commission follow a more transparent process. Its leaders argue that public confidence in electoral institutions depends on clear procedures and accountability.

Election Commission Controversy Continues

The protest announcement comes amid wider political debate over the functioning of the Election Commission and the SIR exercise. Questions have been raised following reports that two Election Commissioners had expressed objections to certain decisions and procedures linked to the revision process.

The Election Commission has maintained that decisions, including those related to SIR, were taken unanimously by the three-member body. The controversy has nevertheless drawn criticism from opposition parties and civil society groups.

The proposed Jantar Mantar demonstration could bring renewed attention to the debate over voter-list revisions, institutional accountability and the independence of election authorities.

For now, the CJP has stated that its October 10 plan depends on whether Gyanesh Kumar resigns before the scheduled protest. The party has described the proposed action as peaceful, while its demands and allegations remain subjects of public and political debate.
