IIT Madras Alumni-Founded AI Startup Clueso Raises $10 Million in Funding

IIT Madras Alumni-Founded AI Startup Clueso Raises $10 Million in Funding

Clueso, an artificial intelligence startup founded by IIT Madras alumni, has raised $10 million in a Series A funding round to expand its AI-powered video creation platform for businesses. The investment will help the company strengthen its technology, expand its enterprise customer base and improve tools that automate video production and editing.

The funding round was led by Dharana Capital, with new investors Founders Future and Neotribe Ventures joining existing backers Y Combinator and f7 Ventures. The latest investment brings Clueso’s total funding to $12 million.

Founded in 2023, the startup operates from Bengaluru and California. It focuses on helping businesses produce professional-quality videos and instructional content without relying entirely on traditional, time-consuming production processes.

AI-Powered Video Creation for Businesses

Clueso develops AI tools that help companies turn product workflows, screen recordings, documents and other inputs into polished videos and step-by-step documentation. Its platform is designed for teams working in marketing, customer education, sales, employee training and customer support.

Creating instructional videos traditionally involves several stages, including planning, scripting, recording, editing, adding voiceovers and preparing captions. These tasks can require considerable time and coordination, particularly when companies need to produce large volumes of content.

Clueso aims to automate much of this process. Its technology can generate scripts, voiceovers, captions, motion graphics and edited videos, while allowing users to make further adjustments through a browser-based editor.

The platform is also being developed to capture software workflows automatically and refresh existing videos when products or processes change. This capability could help businesses maintain accurate training materials and product tutorials as their software evolves.

Who Founded Clueso?

The company was founded by Akash Anand, Prajwal Prakash and Neel Balar, who are associated with IIT Madras.

The founders identified the challenges businesses face when creating and maintaining product tutorials and other instructional content. What began as a solution for customer-facing teams has expanded into a broader platform intended to support multiple departments within an organisation.

As companies release new features and update internal processes, previously recorded videos can quickly become outdated. Maintaining these materials manually can be expensive and resource-intensive, creating an opportunity for AI-based automation.

Clueso is working to address this problem by connecting video production with an understanding of a company’s products, workflows and brand guidelines.

More Than 1,000 Companies Use the Platform

Clueso says more than 1,000 companies use its platform to produce business videos. Its customer list includes Atlassian, Zendesk, Gainsight, Seismic and Ironclad.

According to the company, some users have reported productivity improvements of more than five times and reductions of up to 80% in video production costs. These figures are company-reported outcomes and may vary depending on how organisations use the platform and measure their results.

The customer base indicates demand for tools that help businesses produce instructional and marketing content more efficiently. However, the startup will need to continue improving its technology and demonstrating consistent value as competition in AI-powered content creation intensifies.

How Clueso Plans to Use the $10 Million

The company plans to use the new capital to expand its enterprise sales and market reach, strengthen the AI agent technology behind its platform and develop more advanced editing capabilities.

It also aims to connect video creation more closely with the software systems and internal knowledge that businesses already use. Such integrations could make it easier for teams to generate and update content without repeatedly rebuilding the production process from scratch.

More than 80% of the fresh funding came from existing investors, according to the company, indicating continued financial backing from investors who had supported earlier stages of its development.

Growing Competition in AI Video Technology

The funding highlights continued investor interest in AI tools designed to automate specialised business tasks. While many AI video products target individual creators and entertainment content, Clueso focuses on enterprise requirements such as consistent branding, employee training, customer onboarding and maintaining accurate product documentation.

Its next phase will depend on how effectively it expands its customer base, improves its technology and converts growing demand into sustainable business growth.

With $12 million in total funding, Clueso is positioned to continue developing its platform as businesses explore ways to reduce content production costs and scale their use of AI-powered workflows.
