CivilMantra ConsAi Ltd. has positioned itself at the forefront of sustainable megastructure engineering through its crucial role in designing Asia’s longest wildlife corridor along the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. Passing through the ecologically fragile Shivalik landscape and Rajaji National Park, this project represents a landmark shift in balancing rapid urban connectivity with biodiversity preservation.
Engineering Harmony: Key Design Innovations
The 210 km expressway cuts travel time from 6 hours to just 2.5 hours while ensuring local flora and fauna remain undisturbed. CivilMantra ConsAi Ltd. integrated engineering solutions to mitigate habitat fragmentation and prevent human-wildlife conflict:
- Elevated Highway Deck: A 12-kilometer continuous elevated corridor built at an average height of 6–7 meters, elevating heavy traffic above natural migration paths.
- Dedicated Underpasses & Tunnels: Inclusion of specialized animal underpasses and the 340-meter Daat Kali tunnel designed specifically to allow elephants, leopards, and deer to roam freely underneath.
- Sensory Mitigation Features: Installation of sound-dampening acoustic barriers, light-reflecting screens, and non-intrusive yellow lighting to reduce vehicle noise and headlight glare in forest zones.
A Benchmark for Sustainable Infrastructure
By blending advanced engineering with ecological sensitivity, CivilMantra ConsAi Ltd. demonstrates that economic progress and environmental stewardship can coexist seamlessly. The project sets a global standard for eco-friendly highway design, proving that infrastructure expansion does not have to come at the expense of wildlife habitats.
An overview of how this smart highway protects surrounding ecology while boosting connectivity is detailed in India's Smart Highway: Wildlife Corridor on Delhi-Dehradun Expressway.
