Jio Platforms Q2 Profit Rises 13.7% to ₹8,389 Crore as Revenue Grows 11.4%

Jio Platforms reported a strong financial performance for the second quarter of the 2026–27 financial year, recording a 13.7% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit. The company's profit after tax reached ₹8,389 crore for the quarter ended September 30, compared with ₹7,379 crore in the corresponding period last year.

Revenue from operations also registered healthy growth, rising 11.4% to ₹40,475 crore from ₹36,332 crore a year earlier. The results, announced on October 30, marked the company's first quarterly earnings report following its stock market listing earlier in the week.

The performance was supported by subscriber additions, higher average revenue per user and continued growth in digital services.

Operating Earnings and Margins Improve

Jio Platforms recorded a 16.6% year-on-year increase in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), which climbed to ₹21,879 crore during the quarter.

The EBITDA margin expanded by 250 basis points to 54.1%, reflecting stronger operating performance and improved revenue generation.

On a sequential basis, net profit increased by around 8% from ₹7,765 crore in the June quarter. Revenue from operations rose 3.3% compared with the previous quarter's ₹39,173 crore.

The company also reported higher average revenue per user (ARPU), a key measure of the revenue generated from each telecom subscriber. ARPU reached ₹218.80 per month, compared with ₹211.40 in the year-ago quarter and ₹215.60 in the previous quarter.

Subscriber Growth Supports Revenue Expansion

Jio continued to expand its customer base during the September quarter. Its total subscriber count reached 542.4 million, representing growth of 7.1% compared with the same period last year.

The company added 9.1 million subscribers on a net basis during the quarter. Its 5G customer base also crossed the 300-million mark, strengthening its position in India's expanding high-speed mobile connectivity market.

Data consumption continued to increase. Average monthly usage per customer rose 14.2% year-on-year to 44.2 GB, while total data traffic increased 22.1% to 71.3 billion GB.

The company also reported 30 million fixed broadband subscribers by the end of September. Its Jio AirFiber service had a customer base of approximately 15.1 million, contributing significantly to additions in the fixed broadband segment.

Digital Services and Connectivity Drive Growth

Jio Platforms recorded growth across its major business segments. Revenue from connectivity services increased 11%, while digital services revenue grew 16% during the quarter.

The company continues to invest in expanding its 5G network, broadband infrastructure and digital offerings. These areas remain central to its strategy of increasing customer engagement and developing additional revenue streams.

Managing Director Akash Ambani said the quarterly results reflected the strength of the company's 5G network and the expanding reach of its broadband and digital services.

He also highlighted plans to build capabilities in satellite communications, 6G intellectual property and artificial intelligence integrated into voice and data services.

First Results After Market Listing

The September-quarter announcement came shortly after Jio Platforms completed its stock market debut on October 28. Its initial public offering raised approximately ₹30,188 crore, making it one of India's largest public offerings.

The company said that ₹27,500 crore from the IPO proceeds had been used towards the repayment of external commercial borrowings of its subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. The remaining funds are intended for general corporate purposes.

With rising profits, expanding subscriber numbers and growing data consumption, Jio Platforms enters its next phase as a listed company with a focus on connectivity and emerging technologies. Its ability to sustain revenue growth while managing investment requirements will remain important for its financial performance in the coming quarters.
