Jason Sanjay’s first film as a director, Sigma, recorded a decline in box office collections on its second day in theatres. The action comedy, featuring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, earned an estimated ₹1.50 crore net across India on Saturday, October 3. With this, the film’s total domestic net collection reached ₹3.85 crore after two days.
The film opened in cinemas on October 2 and generated ₹2.35 crore net on its first day. Its second-day earnings represented a drop of approximately 36.2 per cent, indicating that the initial audience response did not translate into higher Saturday collections. The figures are early estimates and may be revised as further reports become available. <Cite refs={["turn222296search2","turn222296news1"]}/>
Sigma Day 2 Collection: Tamil Version Leads

Meanwhile, the Telugu version earned around ₹55 lakh net through 886 screenings, with occupancy reported at 19 per cent. Together, the two language versions brought the film’s Day 2 India net collection to ₹1.50 crore.
Across both versions, Sigma recorded an overall occupancy of 22.6 per cent on Saturday. The film’s India gross collection stood at approximately ₹4.40 crore after two days, while its cumulative footfall was reported at around 3.65 lakh. <Cite refs={["turn222296search2","turn222296news1"]}/>
How Did Sigma Perform on Its Opening Day?
Sigma began its theatrical run with a net collection of ₹2.35 crore on Friday. It recorded approximately 31.1 per cent occupancy across 1,813 shows on its first day.
The second-day figures showed a softer response, with collections falling despite the weekend setting. The decline makes the film’s Sunday performance important, as stronger audience turnout could help it recover some of the lost momentum.
The film’s box office journey will also depend on audience response in its key markets, particularly Tamil Nadu and Telugu-speaking regions.
What Is Sigma About?
Directed by Jason Sanjay, Sigma follows a librarian facing financial difficulties as he struggles to repay a debt. His circumstances gradually draw him into a dangerous criminal network involving illegal casinos, drug dealers and heists. As the story progresses, unexpected betrayals complicate his situation.
The film combines action, comedy and crime elements, with Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah playing the lead roles. It also features a supporting cast that includes Raju Sundaram and Sampath Raj.
Jason Sanjay Makes His Directorial Debut
The film marks an important career milestone for Jason Sanjay, son of actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. Rather than appearing as the lead actor, Jason has chosen to begin his film career behind the camera.
His debut has attracted attention because of his family’s connection to the Tamil film industry. However, the film’s box office performance will ultimately depend on its audience reception and ability to sustain theatrical interest.
Can Sigma Improve Its Weekend Performance?
After collecting ₹3.85 crore net in two days, Sigma now faces the challenge of maintaining audience interest through its opening weekend. Sunday collections will offer a clearer indication of whether the film can stabilise after its second-day decline.
For now, the film has made a modest start, and its next few days in theatres will be crucial in shaping its overall box office trajectory.
