iQOO is preparing to introduce its next flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16, in India, with a mid-December launch window now being discussed. According to recent reports, the device could arrive between December 15 and 17, 2026. The company has confirmed that the smartphone is coming to the Indian market, although an official launch date and retail price have not yet been announced.
The iQOO 16 has already made its debut in China, giving consumers an indication of the hardware that could feature in the Indian version. The upcoming device is expected to compete in the premium smartphone segment, with a focus on processing power, display quality, photography and battery capacity.
India Launch Timeline: What Is Known So Far?
The December 15–17 launch window comes from a tipster's claim and should not be treated as an officially confirmed schedule. iQOO previously showcased the smartphone at the India Mobile Congress 2026 in New Delhi and confirmed its plans to bring the device to India.
The Indian model is expected to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 mobile platform, manufactured using a 2nm process. It will also be the first iQOO smartphone in India to arrive with OriginOS 7 pre-installed.
The company has not yet revealed the complete India-specific specifications, availability details or launch offers.
Display and Performance Specifications
The Chinese version of the iQOO 16 features a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a 2K resolution of 1,440 × 3,168 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. This combination is designed to deliver detailed visuals and smooth scrolling, particularly during gaming and multimedia use.
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. It is available in China with configurations offering up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
The device also includes a dedicated gaming chip, which is intended to support performance and improve the gaming experience. However, actual performance will depend on software optimisation, cooling and the applications being used.
Triple 50MP Camera Setup
Photography is another important part of the iQOO 16's hardware package. The Chinese model features three 50-megapixel rear cameras, comprising a primary sensor, an ultra-wide camera and a periscope telephoto lens.
The periscope camera supports optical zoom, giving users additional flexibility when photographing distant subjects. A 32-megapixel front-facing camera is provided for selfies and video calls.
The final camera configuration and software features for the Indian variant will become clearer when iQOO releases its official specifications.
Large Battery and Fast Charging
Battery capacity is among the major highlights of the Chinese model. The iQOO 16 packs an 8,400mAh battery, supported by 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
This capacity could make the device appealing to people who regularly use their smartphones for gaming, video streaming and other demanding activities. Actual battery life will depend on factors such as display brightness, network conditions and usage patterns.
The Indian model's battery and charging specifications should be confirmed separately before buyers make a purchase decision.
Expected Price in India
iQOO has not announced the official Indian price. In China, the smartphone starts at 5,999 yuan for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. Higher-memory variants are priced more expensive.
Based on current market estimates, the Indian version could enter the premium segment, with some reports suggesting a price around or above ₹1 lakh. This remains an estimate rather than a confirmed retail price.
With its flagship processor, high-refresh-rate display, advanced camera system and large battery, the iQOO 16 is shaping up as a major premium smartphone launch. Its final Indian pricing, software experience and confirmed specifications will determine how it compares with other flagship devices.
