Nitish Bharadwaj Hopes Audiences Embrace Sai Pallavi as Sita in ‘Ramayana’

Nitish Bharadwaj Hopes Audiences Embrace Sai Pallavi as Sita in ‘Ramayana’

Veteran actor Nitish Bharadwaj has reiterated his hope that Indian audiences will welcome Sai Pallavi in the role of Sita in the upcoming film Ramayana: Part 1. Known for portraying Lord Krishna in the iconic television series Mahabharat, Bharadwaj has highlighted the importance of presenting the epic with cultural sensitivity and preserving elements of its traditional storytelling.

In a social media post on October 28, 2026, the actor returned to comments he had made earlier about the film, drawing attention to the music and devotional traditions he hopes will feature in the cinematic adaptation.

Nitish Bharadwaj Emphasises Cultural Connection

Bharadwaj shared a screenshot featuring the line “Main Bansuri, Saans Tu” from Mangal Rang, a song associated with the film. He encouraged followers to look more closely at the line and referred to his earlier remarks about the project.

In his previous statement, Bharadwaj said he hoped audiences across India would accept Sai Pallavi as Sita. His comments reflected the significance of casting choices in a story that has been retold across generations and remains deeply connected to religious and cultural traditions.

The actor also expressed a wish to hear verses from Tulsidas’ Ramcharitmanas, accompanied by traditional instruments such as the mridangam and manjira. He described these musical elements as an important part of the cultural identity associated with the Ramayana.

His latest post brought renewed attention to these expectations as anticipation builds around the film’s release.

A Familiar Face From Indian Mythological Television

Bharadwaj is widely recognised for playing Lord Krishna in B. R. Chopra’s 1988 television series Mahabharat. His portrayal established a lasting association with Indian mythological storytelling and continues to inform public interest in his views on adaptations of revered epics.

The actor has praised the new Ramayana project and its ambition to present Indian mythology to audiences worldwide. Following the release of the film’s trailer in July, he commended the production’s visual presentation and creative team.

He also spoke about Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama, urging the actor to recognise the cultural responsibility associated with portraying a figure who holds a central place in Hindu tradition.

Bharadwaj’s remarks have therefore focused not only on individual performances but also on the wider responsibility of adapting a well-known epic for contemporary cinema.

Sai Pallavi Takes on the Role of Sita

Sai Pallavi has been cast as Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama, while Yash portrays Ravana. The film also features Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

The casting has attracted attention because the characters are deeply familiar to audiences through religious texts, regional retellings and earlier screen adaptations. Performances in such roles often carry expectations shaped by personal beliefs, family traditions and previous interpretations.

Bharadwaj’s hope that viewers will accept Pallavi reflects the attention surrounding her portrayal. His comments do not establish how audiences will respond, but they underline the cultural significance attached to bringing the character to the screen.

‘Ramayana: Part 1’ Set for November Release

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is planned as a two-part cinematic adaptation. The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, ahead of Diwali, while the second part is planned for Diwali 2027.

The project combines a prominent Indian cast with large-scale visual effects and an international production approach. Its makers aim to bring the epic to a broad audience while drawing on a narrative that has remained influential across Indian languages and artistic traditions.

As the release approaches, Bharadwaj’s renewed comments have added another perspective to the conversation surrounding the film. His emphasis on Sai Pallavi’s portrayal of Sita and the inclusion of traditional devotional music highlights the expectations that accompany any new cinematic interpretation of the Ramayana.
