NAGPUR, India, October 2026: ActiveCare, a technology-enabled non-surgical spine care provider, has announced plans to build a standardised network of approximately 100 clinics over the next five years. Founded by physiotherapist couple Dr. Asim Sayyad and Dr. Sadaf Sayyad, the organisation aims to expand access to structured, non-surgical treatment for back pain, neck pain and selected disc-related conditions. The expansion will begin in Tier-II cities before extending to major Indian metropolitan areas and selected international markets.
Operating four centres in Nagpur through Saffona Healthcare Private Limited, ActiveCare has treated more than 10,000 patients and reports average annual growth of approximately 25% over the past decade. According to the organisation, more than 90% of its patients report significant pain relief, while many are able to manage their conditions without surgery, depending on their diagnosis and clinical suitability.
A Childhood Experience That Inspired a Healthcare Mission
For Dr. Asim Sayyad, the motivation behind ActiveCare began with a deeply personal experience during his childhood. His grandmother suffered from sciatica, but the underlying spinal disc problem contributing to her symptoms went unidentified. She was prescribed painkillers, vitamins and other medications but did not receive physiotherapy or structured non-surgical rehabilitation for her condition.
Over time, her health deteriorated, and she became bedridden before passing away. The experience left a lasting impression on Dr. Asim and inspired his commitment to helping patients receive appropriate diagnoses, timely treatment and access to non-surgical care for spinal conditions.
“My grandmother did not get a second chance,” said Dr. Asim Sayyad. “Her experience showed me how deeply a spinal condition can affect a patient and an entire family. I want every patient, in every city, to have access to the right assessment, appropriate treatment and an opportunity to explore suitable non-surgical options.”
Over more than 13 years of clinical practice, Dr. Asim says he has encountered patients who are anxious about spinal surgery and are looking for alternative treatment options. While surgery remains necessary in certain cases, he believes eligible patients should have access to appropriate conservative care and a thorough clinical assessment before making major treatment decisions.
A Decade of Growth and Patient Experiences
One patient story that reflects ActiveCare’s approach is that of Mr. Praveen Sontakke, who had been advised to undergo surgery for his spinal condition. He subsequently completed a six-week treatment programme at ActiveCare and, according to the organisation, achieved significant relief that has lasted for approximately 10 years.
His experience is among the patient outcomes the founders cite in explaining their emphasis on structured rehabilitation, personalised care and long-term follow-up.
ActiveCare has treated more than 10,000 patients and operates four centres in Nagpur, supported by a team of more than 30 healthcare professionals. The organisation reports average annual growth of approximately 25% over the past decade, reflecting its efforts to build a repeatable model for delivering non-surgical spine care.
Combining Hands-On Physiotherapy With Advanced Technology
ActiveCare combines hands-on physiotherapy and rehabilitation techniques with advanced technologies, including robotic spinal decompression, within structured clinical protocols.
Rather than relying on a single machine or treatment method, the organisation integrates clinical assessment, manual therapy, rehabilitation and technology where appropriate.
Dr. Sadaf Sayyad brings expertise in orthopaedic and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, alongside training in osteopathy, chiropractic techniques, dry needling and manual rehabilitation. Dr. Asim Sayyad holds a master's degree in Sports Physiotherapy, serves as an Associate Professor and has been involved in building healthcare ventures since 2013.
The founders believe that combining clinical expertise with consistent treatment protocols can help improve care delivery across multiple locations. Treatment recommendations remain dependent on individual assessment, and not every patient is suitable for non-surgical management.
Building a 100-Clinic Network Across India
As part of its next phase of growth, ActiveCare plans to establish approximately 100 clinics over the next five years. The expansion strategy will prioritise Tier-II cities, where access to specialised rehabilitation services may be limited, before extending the network to major metropolitan areas and selected international markets.
To support this expansion, the organisation is developing a digital platform designed to standardise patient management, clinical workflows and treatment monitoring. The platform is intended to help healthcare teams maintain consistent processes and track patient progress as the network grows.
The founders see standardisation as a critical element of scaling healthcare responsibly. By combining defined clinical protocols, trained professionals, technology and individualised treatment plans, ActiveCare aims to deliver a consistent approach across locations while maintaining a patient-focused model of care.
“Great spine care should not depend on which city you live in,” said Dr. Sadaf Sayyad. “Our vision is to make structured, quality spine care more accessible to people across India. As we expand, we want every clinic to follow consistent clinical processes while ensuring that every patient receives individual attention and an appropriate treatment plan.”
The Road Ahead
ActiveCare’s planned expansion to approximately 100 clinics represents the founders’ ambition to build a broader network focused on non-surgical spine care. Over the next five years, the organisation intends to expand into new cities, strengthen its clinical systems, develop its digital platform and establish a scalable network that can adapt treatment to individual patient needs.
For the founders, the goal extends beyond opening clinics. It is about increasing awareness of appropriate non-surgical treatment options, encouraging timely clinical assessment and helping patients access care closer to home.
As ActiveCare moves into its next phase, the founders remain committed to a principle that has guided the organisation since its inception: helping patients understand their options and receive appropriate care for their conditions.
