NGOBazaar Highlights Artisans and Their Stories as 26 Sellers Go Live on Its Marketplace

A Marketplace Focused on the Maker

NGOBazaar, an online marketplace developed by New Delhi-based NGOFeed Digital Solution Pvt. Ltd., is bringing product makers into focus by pairing handmade and organic goods with information about the people and groups behind them. The platform reports that 26 sellers have completed verification and are live, while close to 225 others have registered and are undergoing review.

The marketplace is intended for artisans, self-help groups (SHGs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and small businesses. Its approach gives sellers space to describe how an item was made, the skills involved and the purpose behind the work, alongside practical product details.

Showing the Work Behind Handmade Products

Many crafts reflect skills passed between generations or developed through years of practice. A hand-block printed textile, for example, can involve carving printing blocks, preparing colours and applying patterns by hand. Products made by an SHG may involve several members working on different stages, while NGO-linked products can be connected to training programmes or community enterprises.

NGOBazaar encourages sellers to explain these details through product descriptions and photographs. The aim is to help customers understand materials, techniques and craftsmanship before making a purchase. The company says it encourages straightforward, accurate descriptions and stories supplied by the sellers, rather than broad or unsupported claims about social impact.

“When you buy something handmade, you are buying someone’s skill and their time,” said MD Shahbaz Hassan, founder of NGOFeed Digital Solution Pvt. Ltd. He said the marketplace was developed to make the maker visible and help customers learn who is behind a product.

How Sellers Join the Platform

Artisans, SHGs, NGOs and other eligible businesses apply through the NGOBazaarSeller Portal. Applicants submit products for review and, after approval, can manage listings and orders through a seller dashboard without having to build and maintain a separate website.

The company says the gap between registrations and live sellers reflects its decision to verify applicants in batches. This process is intended to check that sellers and products meet the platform’s requirements before listings become available to shoppers.

NGOFeed says many applicants have previously relied on exhibitions, local markets and word-of-mouth recommendations to sell their work. Online listings provide another potential route to reach customers in other parts of India, although the company notes that a listing alone does not guarantee sales.

Connecting Product Information with Customer Choices

Online shopping often limits customers to photographs, prices and short descriptions. NGOBazaar’s model adds information about the maker and the context of the product. A textile listing might explain its weaving method or design inspiration, while an SHG listing could introduce the people involved in making an item.

Such details can help customers assess whether a product suits their needs and understand differences in design, finish and pricing. The marketplace’s approach may also be relevant to people shopping for gifts or home décor who want to learn more about the craftsmanship behind an item.

NGOFeed’s Digital Marketplace Initiative

NGOBazaar is the first online retail venture of NGOFeed Digital Solution Pvt. Ltd., a technology company founded by MD Shahbaz Hassan and incorporated in New Delhi in August 2024. The company says it develops digital platforms and tools for organisations and businesses, with a focus on digital access and technology-led entrepreneurship.

Through NGOBazaar, the company is seeking to make online selling more accessible to small producers by providing a marketplace and seller-management process. Its stated focus is on handmade and organic products from verifiedartisans, SHGs, NGOs, small enterprises and independent sellers.
